Happy Halloween!!

YAY! I LOVE Halloween!  It is such a fun time of the year...and now that we have a kiddo, we can enjoy Halloween like we are still kids! :)  This may be Keagan's first Halloween that he can participate in, but it isn't his first rodeo trick-or-treating!  Last year we bundled baby Keagan up in his stroller and went trick-or-treating with Lindsy's and Alicia's kids.  This year he figured it out pretty quick.  Costume + stranger + bucket = CANDY.  And Keagan now knows candy!  (He couldn't be my kid and not know candy.  Just not possible.)

Halloween season kicked off with some serious pumpkin carving.  I decided this year that while I love to carve pumpkins, I really don't like to carve them. HA!  It is messy and I always get way too involved and the carving takes waaay too long!  What I love is having the friends over while we carve pumpkins.  It is something we try to do every year, and it started in Lexington with Lindsy and Tim.  I miss having them over for this tradition, as they would have had a blast with Tassie and Joey this year!

As for the candy portion of Halloween:  we went to a Trunk-or-Treat at our church and then again at his school. And then tonight we did some true neighborhood trick-or-treating. It was cold, but so much fun. And "Aunt" Tassie and "Uncle" Joey went with us and we had our own little golf cart caravan! Keagan got a ton of candy, most of which mom and dad will eat, and by the end he was holding his bucket out for people to give him candy!

Best things in Life are Free

Recently Keagan has been incredibly snuggly towards me.  He isn't normally this way.  In fact, he normally resists snuggles with mommy...or anyone for that matter. I think his snuggles are because he has been sick.   For, like, 5 weeks.  Seriously.  But I will take what I can get.  Then today, he fell down the bottom stairs (don't hate on me- he is a boy and he does boy things) and Josh picked him up off the floor.  But he wanted his mommy.  I was trying to nap on the couch (impossible, but I was trying) so Josh put him down with me and he snuggled with me for a good 20-30 minutes!  It was so sweet.  I love these moments more than anything in the world (and will take them any way I can get them). It saddens my heart how quickly this child is growing up.

I often wonder how long he will let me love on him.  Then my mind wonders if I will want to love on him when he is a stinky 7 year old.  Probably.  When he is 18 will he let me snuggle him?  Probably not...but I sure hope so!  My heart hurts to think of him growing up and getting big, and not wanting/needing his mommy anymore. 

But, as the old saying goes:

Things that GO!

While Keagan was visiting with his Poppy and Gama (and Uncle Clay and Aunt Jenny) this past weekend, they took him to an orchard that had fun rides.  They got a bunch of great pictures of Keagan riding all the rides.  And you can see from the pictures that he not only loves to ride, but he loves to drive and also make the appropriate noises with his mouth of the "vehicle" he is driving!  Funny kid...

Do you think he had a good time?  I do!

Thirty and Flirty

Josh is THIRTY.  Have I mentioned that yet?  Hahaha, he's gonna kill me for rubbing it in.  Either that, or royally get me back NEXT YEAR when I turn 30!  But that's NEXT YEAR.  (Love you, baby)  As I mentioned in my last post, I loaned my kid to Josh's parents for the night so us adults could throw down like we were 21 again. Of course, we aren't 21 anymore.  But we still had a really good time, and more importantly, Josh felt loved from his friends who came to help him ring in his 3rd decade of life.

 CAKE TIME!  I surprised Josh with a cake from Yellow House Cakery in Lexington and Lindsy brought it with her when they came.  Sooooo....I was hoping to have the cake look like a Dos Equis beer bottle top, with a twist that made it special to Josh's 30th birthday.  Josh and I were laughing about the cake today because it actually looked a little x-rated and he said this is what he thought it was about when he first saw it (it shows on his face in the pic below.  He's like...what the heck?!).  So, I don't know why the cake is flesh-colored.  But the 3 x's are for tres equis instead of dos equis.  Three X's means 30 in roman numerals.  I don't think the idea in my head played out on the cake quite like I'd hoped...but whatever it was good!!  At least "The Most Interesting Man in the World" helped him to recognize that it was a Dos Equis bottle top!!!

So, as I was making this blog post I remembered that I threw a surprise birthday party for Josh when he turned 21...and then I ran upstairs and found some pics from that night!! I actually spent a few minutes looking through the old pics in my scrapbooks from way-back-when!!  We were mere babies.

Lucky for you I have a scanner. Unlucky for us, these pics aren't the most flattering. Of me. HA! What was up with my hair?!!? :)

Oh those were the days...oh THESE are the days.  We had a pretty good time back then, but I would say we are having a really good time now!
