Because I promised...

Keagan turned 3 months old on the first day of fall.

I don't know how this has happened.  Where has my newborn gone? I am struggling with the whole "time flies" issue.  We really are having fun, so I guess time is flying.

This makes me incredibly sad because his "baby" things are quickly disappearing.  He no longer wears premie clothes (they were sooo cute and tiny!), in fact he has more than caught up to his age/size and is pushing into 3-6 month sizes!!  He no longer has a blank expression or an Oooooh Face, he is a big boy now and carries on 5-10 minute conversations with anyone who will listen and then talk back to him!  He is quite the ham and has so many expressions that when I was going through all 68 of the pics I took of him in one setting, I was having a hard time choosing which were "blog worthy."  Not to mention my giggling as I scrolled through all the pics and saw his expression change with each snap of the camera!

Thus, you get more than you bargained for:

My beautiful son is growing so fast, it scares me to think that I will blink and he will be talking, walking, dating, graduating high school, and then having his own babies.  I need time to slow down!  (tears)
Some funnies about Keagan:
He has discovered his tongue and sticks it out of his mouth all the time (note this in a couple of the pics above)
He is a serious type, loves to smile but will make you work for his smiles
He smiles a half smile when only slightly amused.
Smiles a full-on gummy smile when mommy makes weird noises...he loves weird noises.
Or maybe he just loves weird mommy!
He has started to make the same sounds mommy makes (OooOOOooooOOOOooooh!) and then smiles, bats his hands, and kicks his feet when I laugh at him.
He still hates pure tummy time, but I have found the boppy on my chest works well to get in some tummy time.
He likes daycare. He always seems happy when I drop him off/pick him up, daddy thinks so too.
He eats his fists, whether he is hungry or not.
He sleeps through the night about 20% of the time.  The other 80% he sleeps about 5 hours, wakes to eat, then goes back to sleep.  We are lucky.
He does not like to be snuggled unless it is early in the morning.
He likes to be held like a sack of potatoes.
He is balding, and has a slight comb-over.  We are hoping this fills in fast!
He can almost hold his head up, daddy tests this weekly but putting him in his Bumbo seat and seeing where his head goes!  (don't worry folks, perfectly safe)
He is outgrowing his bassinet, which saddens me.
He does not like bedtime stories, he is all business when it comes to bedtime.  No fluff.
He is sensitive, still cries quite a bit but nothing like it used to be! My oh my what a difference a month makes!

Most of all, he is the most adorable little guy any parents could ever ask for.  Parenting is hard work, but then you see that smile and you remember how much fun it is, too.

Here are a couple more that I found funny (maybe you will too, or maybe you will think "I guess you have to be there...")

Latest Obsession

As I mentioned in my last post, I am slightly obsessed with making sure Keagan's nose stays clean.  I believe I am going to regret this, he will probably be the three year old that you see digging for gold in Wal-Mart.  But whatever.  His nose will be clean!  Lucky for me, my boy doesn't mind the booger-getter/sucker/aspirator.  It may not be his favorite [daily] event, but he tolerates it and only makes weird faces.  Occasionally if it's a big one, he gets impatient with me.  I have the act of booger-getting down to a science though.  Check it out:

Supplies: tissue, saline nose drops, sucker, happy baby.

1) Get a happy baby (this particular baby is happy, he would just rather keep his boogies in his nose on this particular evening)
2) Put saline drops in nose.  Watch baby make weird faces.
3) Insert sucker into nose with the bulb depressed. You don't have to stick the tip far in his nostril to be effective.  In fact, it's best you don't because you will just upset the previously happy baby and you won't get the boogie.
4) Release pressure on bulb.  Watch baby's eyes widen.
5)  Squeeze out boogie onto tissue.
6)  Show anyone and everyone your infant's GIANT boog and remark how amazing it is this came out of his nose! (don't forget to talk about this with your childless friends on evening walks, they truly appreciate it)

Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the most recent boogie...will hook you up next time because I am certain you want to see it!!

7) Watch baby smile because his nose is clean and he can breathe again!
Voila! Successful removal of boogers.

Sad, I know.  But it is such a part of our day that I felt the need to share it with you.  I only wish I had taken a pic of the prize...but I guess you'll have to use your imagination!  Hahaha!

The times, they are a-changin'

My baby boy is growing up.  Too quickly, I might add. How does this happen?  It won't be long and my sweet baby boy will be a rough-and-tumble tot!  Here are some shots from the past couple of weeks:

I looove the above pic for 2 reasons:
1. The oooooh face, which we rarely see anymore (in fact this pic may be the last time it appeared!)...so sad because it reminds me of his newborn days.  Big boys don't really do the oooh face!
2. The massive boogy in his nostril.  I love to get the boogies (is this weird?)--I feel so accomplished when they come out and he can breathe again!

With Gama at his first dove hunt (except he didn't hunt or see doves!)

This past week I went back to work.  Go ahead and cry for me.  I cried a lot leading up to this week; I didn't want to leave my baby and I certainly didn't want to leave my baby at daycare! No one is mommy and no one can love my boy like me.  Much to my surprise and delight, both Keagan and I did really well!
The first day I picked him up from school, I got a huge smile!  AND he has slept really the past three nights.  Maybe this isn't so bad?  I have also enjoyed being back in the adult world (even though all I think about all day long is coming home to see my boy).
Some sweet pics of Keagan sacked out after coming home from school!

My sweet baby is getting so big and changes every day!  He is starting to get roly-poly legs (along with multiple chins!) and he is quite sturdy and stout!

Before I sign off, I would like to ask for a prayer for the amazing doctor who delivered Keagan, and his wife and three little boys.  If you are from this area, you know what is going on, otherwise I would rather not speak of it.  But please pray for peace for this family and for my doctor to be able to put the present into the past and move on with life.  This doctor means the world to me, he has seen me from infertility to pregnancy and from difficulties to pure joy.  He gave Josh and I his personal cell phone number, followed up with us as a friend more than a doctor when Keagan was in the NICU, and has shown compassion and care throughout my time as a patient of his.  I look forward to having him as my doctor when we expand our family and I just hope to God that he can move forward from the issues he is facing right now.

So sad

Since I've started back to work, my [computer] time has been limited.  That means I am way behind in my blogging.  So sad!  But welcome to real life!   I promise to update soon...  'til then, I leave you with this face!

P.S.  Happy Grandparents Day to Grandma and Geez, Poppy and Gama!
