Drip Drop

Last night it rained somethin' awful! (as Josh would say) I woke up at about midnight and realized I was incredibly hot (which is rare!) and then realized the power was off. "Great." I thought,"It had better be back on before I have to get up in the morning." Then I heard what sounded like a leaky faucet over the background of pouring rain on the window. I wasn't quite sure what I was hearing (remember, I was still asleep) but I really felt like it was coming from inside the house instead of outside. So, I decided to get up and investigate. I walked into our sitting room and stepped into something wet, then something wet hit my head. Oh crap. Our skylight is leaking...oh crap. Once I found a flashlight I realized the skylight was leaking in TWO different places! Just lovely. And we're expecting strong storms again on Friday and our roof isn't fixed from Hurricane Ike in September!! The joys of home ownership.

Welcome to the real world!

This week I bit the bullet and joined the local gym: MEGA GYM! (you have to say it as if you are in an echo room!) I have been boycotting joining b/c it is so darn expensive; remember I have been going "for free" at UK and so paying a monthly fee is a shock to my system. But, I went last week without having a gym and decided I needed to do this for my sanity. So, I joined Monday. I am pretty excited about the gym this week (the newness will wear off...) and have been nearly every day. They have great classes (Body Pump and Body Vibe) and awesome equipment. The one thing I don't like is trying to find time (!!) as well as trying to stay awake past 9:30 at night b/c I am so worn out after a full day's work and then working out and then trying to do stuff around the house. Ahhhh!

The Search Continues...

Today Josh and I went to another church-Hardin Baptist Church. I have to say it was the closest thing to Southland that we've come across yet; so I am re-energized in our search for the perfect church (it rhymes!). I wasn't sold on the preacher's style, but he is the youth pastor and not the normal pastor. So, we are going to give it another church. The church is relatively large compared to ones we've visited so far, and they have a decent praise and worship segment at the beginning. I sound so pessimistic, but I really miss Southland--so much more than I ever thought I would. We are going to give HBC another chance and maybe our prayers of finding a church home will be answered. I did have an epiphany this weekend: Josh and I have grown so much closer spiritually in this whole endeavor because until now, we've never really had to discuss what each of us desires in the "perfect church," we've just gone to church then gone home. For this new chapter in our relationship, I am so very thankful. (God does have a plan!)

On the decorating front: we had an interior decorator come into our home on Saturday to help us pick out paint for the main part of the house, and she gave us so many pointers that our heads were spinning by the time she left! And I do mean spinning- she walked through our home and gave a million and three pointers and I couldn't keep up with her! AAH. It was helpful, I guess, but also incredibly overwhelming. She walked through our master suite area (which is already painted, decorated, etc for the most part) and pointed out so many things that we should change! I could have cried!!! OH well, there is going to ALWAYS be something to change so I let her pointers roll off my back and decided that I wasn't going for a model home but a home where I can comfortably raise my family while also satisfying my own inner decorator. And that's that. We thanked her and then went and bought two gallons of paint to begin the ridiculous project of painting the main part of the house from gold to "silver fox"--pictures to follow whenever it's all done!

Finally- this last week was my first week of the second-to-last internship. I am at Hampton Physical Therapy in Paducah, KY, and all I really have to say is SO FAR SO GOOD! I love it so far and am so excited about getting into the real-world as a physical therapist.

Newness of Spring

This weekend Josh and I bought two new chairs for the sitting room off the master bedroom. We have been eyeing them for quite a while and searching for a better deal, better chairs, etc...but finally went back and decided these were THE chairs. So, we ordered them! YAY! The only downside is the 6-8 weeks we'll have to wait! (Pics to follow, when they arrive)

One of the most difficult things about moving away from Lexington has been finding a church home. We have been to numerous churches, only to be let down. This morning was a little ray of light since I was beginning to really get down about the whole thing. We went to First Baptist church and I actually got something out of the service. Don't get me wrong, it's no Southland Christian, but it was a breath of fresh air in the seemingly dissapointing search. While the church didn't have every element that I want, the pastor actually spoke to us. Down here it seems that pastors try to get their message across with yelling and pulpit banging; I just don't do yelling. Maybe it's just the churches we've visited, or maybe it's the way here, either way I would rather go to no church at all than go to ones like that (maybe that's bad, but it's totally how I feel--I actually become angry and turned-off during services such as these). But this morning, we found the best one so far. There are so many more that I want to visit, but if all else fails it's nice to know we've found one with at least a good preacher!

When we got back from church, I took a moment to look around at our landscaping and the flowers that are coming up. It is so warm (and windy!) here right now, it just makes me crave spring. I was so excited to see the flowers budding--I just had to snap some pics (top=daffodil, bottom=hyacinths). So beautiful. So new. So fresh! I LOVE SPRING!!!

New Home-Kinda

So, we've lived in our house for nearly (ahem) 8 months now, and I am sad to say that it is hardly what I'd like it to be. So, one suggestion from friends on what to blog about was the decorating of our house. SO, here we go. I have posted some pics of the outside of the house, as well as pics of the master bedroom area (or if you wanna get fancy, "suite"). I have painted the master bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room--they were all PURPLE when we first moved in! (YIKES) Obviously, this had to go...and fast. While, there isn't any furniture in the sitting room, we have plans!! (we just need funding... HA!) And...suggestions/comments are always helpful! If you have a good decorating idea, please send them my way--I tend to draw decorating-brain farts all the time!From the side of the house, looking towards the front yard.

Back in Blog Mode

Well, I am back in Blog-Mode. After much heat from friends over the past several months about never posting, I have revamped my blog page and am going to try and keep you updated with what is going on with me, post-triathlon! In a nutshell, Josh and I are together again in our new home in Benton, KY, after another 8-week semester in Lexington. I am finally on the downhill to graduation (May 9th!!) and the uphill to adult-hood (job-search begins!). Because I am not currently training for anything, this blog is going to be a pseudo-scrapbook of my crazy, unorganized life...and an attempt to keep all my loved ones updated since I am now buried in rural West KY...Enjoy!
