A Couple Funny Valentines

As Valentine's weekend comes to a close I leave you with my funny Valentines. I had big plans to make Valentine's Day something special for my boys, especially now that Keagan is starting to "get" holidays. I decorated a little bit throughout the house and bought the boys little gifts, and they knew they had gifts from their Grandma and Grandpa that they couldn't wait to open. Josh bought me a dozen beautiful roses the day before Valentine's Day so we made a big deal about who was who's Valentine and that Mommy was Daddy's Valentine, etc. So that morning before the kids went to school and I went to work we opened the little gifts. It started out, well, quite ugly:

After they opened our gifts I made breakfast. I had been planning something special and sweet and so I made raspberry and chocolate filled French toast. I assumed that it would be a huge hit with everyone. Boy was I wrong! The first words out of Keagan's mouth were "I don't like it!" and Finn immediately pushed his plate away. OK, well, it was kind of fancy-smancy for kids. But Josh took a couple sympathy bites then pushed his plate away. In his "defense" he hates French toast. I didn't realize just how much until Valentine's Day, but now I know. And yes, if you were wondering, my feelings were hurt. But what do you do? I ate the fancy French toast and enjoyed every bit of it (it really WAS delicious!) and then had some of Josh's, too. That's what you do! (Note to self: never make French toast again.) After breakfast we got the kids ready to go to school and then let them open their goodies from my parents. But first I made them pose in their holiday-appropriate shirts with their gifts. And I have no pictures of them opening the gifts because I video'd the whole thing for my mom...so I will include that though it is likely boring for anyone who isn't my mom!

Oh, and the above pictures were not posed (well, the standing was, but Keagan's arm around his brother was not posed). So maybe they do love each other??

 

 

One of the goodies my mom sent was window clings...a huge hit in this house! And the boys busied themselves for quite sometime at the window... 

 

 

Lastly, I leave you with something hysterical. Finley had a blow-out at school on Valentine's Day (the gift that keeps on giving...) and his teacher's note at the bottom of his daily sheet tickled me:

Something to Make you Smile: Happy Valentine's Day. He pooped up his back.

And because Finn "pooped up his back" they dressed him in some extra clothes the daycare had (his spares were, like, 18 month's too small in size!!)...and all they had was a girlie shirt. I couldn't stop staring at this child the rest of the evening because I really think he would make a gorgeous little girl!! And this is likely the closest to a baby girl I will ever get. I kinda wanted to put a bow in his hair...but luckily for him I have no such thing in our house! :)

ZBB take 2

Last weekend the Zac Brown Band was in Murray. Let me say that again: Zac Brown Band was in Murray. Allow that to sink in. And for those of you who don't live around here and don't know where the heck Murray is, well.....Exactly. Artists of this caliber just don't come to Murray, KY. It just doesn't happened. So this was BIG. (and we are hoping this will set a trend for more big names to come this direction) A while back Stacey told me about ZBB coming to the CFSB center at good ol' Murray State University. We decided this WAS HAPPENING. Come hell or high water, we were gonna see Zac Brown. So I set out acquiring pre-sale tickets to get the best seats possible...and we began to formulate a plan for our adult's weekend. Luckily for Josh and I, his parents were gracious enough to watch the boys all weekend. And I do believe they had as much fun as we did!

 

Our night started out with margaritas and Mexican food before we headed to the concert...this part was about as much fun as the concert! Fun to share a pitcher (or two) of margaritas with best friends, pretend we are the only ones in the establishment, and not have to chop up food into teeny pieces...at least every now and then. :)

Backseat Selfies...

Zac Brown time!!!! The concert was awesome!! It was completely different than the first time we saw them...they played a lot more southern rock and even some Metallica this time, and some of their more popular songs. It doesn't matter what they sing, I love the sound.

At one point they brought this coyote statue out. I don't know what it was about...but it made me laugh. And I kept feeling like it was turning to look at us, but Stacey assured me that the coyote wasn't moving. At all.

At the very end of the concert they did a few songs off the Uncaged album...and came out dressed in skeleton jumpsuits. It was crazy!!

What a great concert!!

Fast and Furious February

It is hard for me to fathom that February is half way over. We have been super busy making this month slip by super fast! Not that I am really complaining, I absolutely despise winter and so the faster Spring arrives, the better!! I have never loved that my birthday was in February, not that my momma could help that, but if I had my druthers it would be in May or June. Or July. Some hot, sizzling month...where a birthday party would consist of a backyard bash! But alas, after 32 years I am coming to accept my birth month. And now that I am in my thirties (that's unreal to me!) I have decided to embrace getting older. I have no choice, really, but to get older so I am going to attempt to do this gracefully. And spend a ton of money on anti-aging products, better make-up, and clothing to make me young. :)

 

Anyways, on the weekend of my birthday, Stacey and Jarrett met us at a fun local restaurant in Paducah where we ordered fruity adult beverages and ignored the kids' demands to have some of it (well, that was mainly Keagan...). Then we went back to our house and continued to drink fruity beverages and ate giant slices of the amazing birthday cake Josh bought me! Check it out below: chocolate chip cheesecake. It was FANTASTIC! And Stacey made my birthday even more fun with some thoughtful, and completely unexpected, birthday gifts: new eye makeup and an adorable casserole dish. Love it all!!

On the day of my birth our region was under a winter storm. It started snowing that night and by the next morning, we were living in a winter wonderland. When Keagan awoke and saw the snow he came running into the bedroom and woke me up with "Can we pwease go play in the snow?? Pwease? Pwease? Pwease? Pweeeeeeaaaassee???" So by 730 that morning we were all bundled up and outside playing! All Keagan wanted to do was build some snow balls. Unfortunately the snow was too powdery so there were no snowball fights or snowmen. But there was lots of attempts at snowballs, a couple snow angles, and then some sledding thrown in! Josh had to go to work later that morning, but the boys and I stayed home and played some more in the snow. They had a good time, and admittedly so did I.

Then back outside we went!

I tried to get a video of Keagan and I sledding down the driveway...he looks kinda scared in this, but rest assured he was asking to go again and again so I know he enjoyed himself! I think he was watching himself in the video! And at one point I turned the phone to video Oscar, who chased and gnawed at the sled the.entire.way.down. It was comical at first...then super irritating!
