Fun-Filled Weekend/Wedding Extravaganza

This past weekend was a full one! It was my dear friend's wedding! Jessica Reed became Jessica Carr on Oct 23rd and I was very honored to be chosen to be a part of her big day! Luckily, my mom and Hannah came into town to babysit/visit with Keagan so that I could fully enjoy my part as a bridesmaid! While I didn't get to visit much with them, Grandma and Aunt Hannah had all kinds of time visiting with Keagan before departing on Sunday. I was so glad they had the chance to spend time with my sweet boy, he is changing so rapidly that I would hate to think that they missed this amazing stage that is 4 months old!

Oscar and Keagan "snuggling" on the couch (yes, this was staged..they aren't that close yet!)
Hannah doing some "auntie" duties!
Keagan loves Grandma...I think the feeling might be mutual!
At Jessica and Mark's amazing wedding reception!  Check out the buffet!
And the beautiful bride and groom!
I'm not sure, but I think Jessica did this candy-bar thing just for me!  I was literally like a kid in a candy store!! (Thought about throwing some elbows if people got in my way, but figured this would be inappropriate at a wedding reception!)
 Another Happy Couple!
We love you, Jessica and Mark!  We are so proud of you and glad that you found each other...everyone deserves such happiness.  Your wedding was gorgeous and, Jessica, you were absolutely radiant.  Thank you for letting me be a part of your very special day!

Keagan's 4 month photo shoot

Before I get to Keagan's 4 month at-home photo shoot, he had 3 month pics done professionally.  Check out Shawna's website for the pictures! Here is one of them she took that we both about peed our pants over because we were laughing so hard! Obviously, not one that will go on the wall, but funny just the same!

Now onto 4 months...can you believe it??  My sweet baby, who spent nearly the first two weeks of his life hooked up to oxygen and IV's, is now four months old!  He is 1/3 the way to a year old! WOW.

At his 4 month check-up, we learned he was perfect.

Well, duh!

No, really.  He weighs 14 lbs, 7 ounces and is at the 50th percentile in weight for babies his age.  He is 25 inches long, so at the 65th percentile!  His head circumference is taking a little longer to catch up (which his doc says is totally normal) and is only at the 10th percentile.  He may have started out small and below average, but he has TOTALLY caught up!  We are so proud!

As usual, I could not post one picture, so there are several.  Enjoy!
Some info on Keagan at four months:
He loves to play on his back and grab at his toys...he gets upset if he cannot get a toy in his mouth because it is tethered to short above him.
He sleeps about 8 hours through the night (provided daily routine is not severely hindered!).
He smiles a lot and puts his whole body into it.
He still hates tummy time, but we push through it because his doctor said to.
He is a good traveller and has been to Lexington one weekend then Nashville twice the next weekend.
He really likes Baby Einstein (and mommy likes that he likes it!).
He can almost hold his head up.
He gets upset if you mock his crying (this is daddy's thing...I would get upset, too!).
He has fat thighs and we love to squeeze them!
He has a belly button!  His umbilical hernia has nearly disappeared!  YAY! this means no surgery!
He has a set bedtime routine and gets bent out of shape if it isn't followed.

This past weekend Grandma and Aunt Hannah were in town to babysit while I participated in a good friend's wedding.  Pictures to come soon!  They thoroughly enjoyed Keagan time! :)

Baby Snatcher?

I think my original child has been abducted by a baby snatcher.  Yes, you heard me right: a baby snatcher.  We have had another wonderful weekend, with very little fussing and amazing sleeping!

I went to Lexington to visit my BFF Lindsy and go to Abby's baby shower.  Of course, Josh had to work this weekend, so it was just me and Keagan.  He was so chill the WHOLE way up to Lexington and we didn't have to stop (3.5 hour drive).  He was great through the baby shower, and even let Lindsy and I do some good shopping!  Saturday night, he slept TEN solid hours!!!  I could not believe it!!! He was even good while I met Stephanie and Jason for breakfast.   He also did great on the way home, although we did have to stop for him to eat and he was pretty much over it the last 15 minutes of the drive (he wouldn't have been if he realized how close to home we were, I am sure of it!).  He was a complete angel.

So where did my always-fussy baby go?  Where did my cryer run off to?  Who stole my somewhat colicky baby?  Must've been the baby snatcher!!  I'm telling ya!

I am not complaining, while I loved the baby who was snatched, I LOVE the personality of the baby we have now!  Funny, they look just alike! :)

Here are pics from the weekend!

Aunt Lindsy has baby-charming ways!

I was tempted to clean his neck rolls, but Lindsy threatened me within an inch of my life if I touched him and woke him up! :)
Abby is getting ready to welcome baby Adalyn!
Lindsy, Me, Keagan, Abby, and Billy
 So good!
YAY!  Courtney got to meet Keagan!
Breakfast with Stephanie and Jason! (I miss you guys!!!)
They are naturals!
Happy Birthday Josh/Daddy!  We "surprised" him with a special cake from Yellow House Cakery...they make the BEST cakes ever!  (and the decoration isn't too shabby either!)

Goooo R*A*C*E*R*S!!!

This weekend was Murray State University's Homecoming. Seven years ago during this particular event, Josh and I got engaged! We haven't been to a homecoming event together since we graduated, so we were excited to go this year. We did it right: going to the parade, Tent City (a glorified tailgate for the MSU alumnae to visit their old clubs and Greek organizations), and finally the football game! It was a full day, and with toting a 3 month old around, it could have been disastrous! We were prepared to leave early from everything, as you never know how an infant will respond to all the stimulation paired with no nap! However, Keagan was WONDERFUL. He was such a trooper and didn't fuss at all. He even made it through the entire football game, and we are so glad because it was a record scoring game for MSU with 72 points (final: 72-59)!
Watching the Homecoming Parade
We met up with some sorority sisters of mine to watch the parade.  This is me and Amber Ryan, and her little boy Liam.  He is so sweet!
 Keagan was tuckered out!
Happy boy at the football game!  He didn't want anything to do with Mommy!  Guess he knew that this was something he and Daddy could enjoy!
Racer One!!  She circled the track so many times!  (For those unfamiliar with MSU tradition, Racer One circles the track after each MSU touchdown!)
Sleepy boy---he took a cat nap despite the fans screaming and the band playing!
Watching the action as the Racers took on the Missouri State Bears.
See!  Keagan made it to the end!  But oh-so-sleepy from a big day!

[Breaking News: Keagan is now full time in his crib (aka big boy bed) in his own room!  He has even slept through the night (8 hours!!) three nights in a row!  I am certain to be eating my words for broadcasting this wonderful news, but right now we are very proud parents!]

First Girlfriend

Obviously, Keagan's first girlfriend is Mommy.  There is no question about that.  The shirt says it all (but so does the face!):
However, this past weekend Keagan had a date with Norah, Julie's little girl!  Norah is a year older than Keagan but that didn't stop her from trying to get some Keagan love!  It was so fun to catch up with Julie and hear about her big move from Atlanta to Dallas, and see how big her baby girl has gotten!  Can't wait to come visit, Jules!!
Nothing says 'love' like a personal nose-picker (mommy does it for him, why wouldn't his prospective girlfriend?)
 Sooo Sweet!
Norah is smitten, but what girl wouldn't be with a handsome fella like Keagan sitting across from her?!!

Camera Phone Fun

Camera phones don't take great pictures/videos.  But sometimes this is all Josh and I have on hand when Keagan does something documentable.

So, forgive the poor quality.

Keagan now sucks his thumb.  We would prefer him not to, but it is pretty cute.  We try and substitute paci for thumb, but this just doesn't work.  Keagan is not a paci kinda dude.
This video shows Keagan "exercising."  He loves to kick, kick, kick and I love to watch him!  Now, because of the new-fangled camera phones, you can love to watch him too!

One final thing, Keagan has now graduated!  He is sleeping in his own room as of last night.  It was hard on me at first, but despite still getting up in the middle of the night to nurse him, I slept better last night than I have in a loooong time!  Next weekend, hopefully, we will graduate him again to sleeping in his crib (aka big boy bed!).  I would have loved to keep him next to our bed longer, but he is growing so quickly that if I did this, he'd need holes cut in the end of the bassinet to let his feet hang out!
