Trunk-Or-Treat

The same night as the preschool Halloween party our church had their annual trunk-or-treat and chili supper. While Finley had a costume change to The Incredible Hulk, Keagan remained as Iron Man. Finn ran around saying "Don't make me angry! Grrr!" This was my favorite costume of his (vs. superman) but it bugged him...it went up his bottom (it is a 3T-4T size! but he was about to pull a "hulk" and bust out of it), and it scratched his neck, and the paint wore off his face, and he didn't like the hair. I heard about it allll evening! Before we headed to church I snapped some pics of the boys outside and then with their pumpkins Josh and I carved.

Oh yeah. Speaking of pumpkins. I almost forgot. Our week nights have been so incredibly busy that time nearly got away from us, and before we knew it we had nearly forgotten to carve pumpkins. The boys had been looking forward to this for a couple weeks, so we couldn't just "forget it." So Josh found some templates on the internet and as a family we got to carving. The boys lasted, um, all of 10 minutes. So Josh and I were left to finish off our masterpieces alone, and as quick as possible. I will say for a speed-carving they turned out pretty darn good. We kinda set the bar high this year...last year were traditional pumpkins. Maybe the boys will forget how cool these were!

My Avengers Super Heroes! Pretty much the best looking superheroes on the planet. Oh and the newest addition to Keagan's costume was a pair of Iron Man gloves. His costume was supposed to come with them, it said so on the package. And wouldn't you know it didn't come with them, but we didn't learn about this until the boys were in bed the night before our shenanigans.  So it was too late to do anything for the school party and he was pretty distraught, but I promised Keagan we would look at Wal-Mart. Amazingly they had just the gloves in the costume department! Score!!!

All afternoon they were chanting, "We. Are. Superheroes! We. Will. Protect. The Earth!"

Pumpkins and costumes go together!

Church Chili supper and trunk-or-treat! The costumes were breaking down long before we even started the trunk-or-treat parade!!

Preschool Halloween Bash

Josh and I bought the boys' Halloween costumes a few weeks early...they knew what they wanted and so to get a jump on things and not stress at the last minute we purchased. The problem with this is every day after getting their costumes they asked if it was party day at their school! When it was finally time for them to get ready for their party I can honestly say it was the best.day.ever. for these two little boys!

Keagan (Iron Man) and Maeci (a Minion) and Penn (a chef) at the snack table. Keagan liked to tell me that he didn't have to smile because he wore a mask.

After the big kids came into the gym the little kids paraded in...and that's when we caught a glimpse of Superman.

The preschool the boys go to is based out of a church and I love that they instill Christian values into the kids. They pray before snack time and I captured this sweet pic of Finley praying. This makes my heart sing...

I also love that parents are invited to attend the parties, and Josh was able to come for a little bit before he had to go to work.

After snack and games, the teachers lined the kids up on either end of the gym and covered the middle of the gym floor with the remaining candy. Then the kids had a candy run. And wouldn't you know it, but both of my boys got their competitive, candy-loving side from their mommy and hit that candy head on and before their friends! Should I be proud? I think so!

After the candy-run, the party was over and we were free to take the kids home. Before we left I took advantage of getting pics of the boys and their friends. The two-headed mummy is Nash, he is in Finley's class and also on Keagan's baseball team. And the group of kids are all the neighborhood kids.

As we were heading to the van the boys had these vampire teeth and I couldn't resist getting pictures. You cannot see it but Finley couldn't keep the teeth and his saliva in his mouth at the same time and ended up with a big drool string hanging out of his mouth and down his chin. Ick!

Fall has flown!

So here I am snuggled up in front of my laptop, staring at a mountain of pictures for blog posts that have yet to be composed, and all I can think about (yearn for?) is summertime! I am already freezing! But I suppose it is time, it IS November...  And before I know it Thanksgiving will have come and gone. I want to blog about our Halloween adventures, but really I just want to share with you my crazy camera phone mash-up because these seem to showcase real life so much more than anything I can capture from my "big" camera. And as much as you may like to see the prettier pictures, I know you visit this blog to see my boys and their funny personalities.

Finley has a thing for going against the grain in everything he does. Including wearing his sunglasses the "right" way. His motto: there is more than one way to skin a cat. And wear your sunglasses.

Grandma sent a care package a few months ago (honestly, this may have been in the spring. I have seriously lost track of time...) and it contained some delish oreos for me (!!) but also a wubble ball. It is super neat and the boys love it. It looks like a giant bubblegum bubble floating in the air...

In September Josh flew to California to go hunting with my uncles and so for a week it was just me and the boys. I let them sleep in my bed every single night except one (they were bad that night) and it was wonderful! They are the most snuggly little toots ever, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. They ask me every now and then if we can do this again...but I don't want to kick Josh out of the bed to allow it to happen. :) Every night I would let them lay in my bed and watch a little television before lights-out, and every night when I came to bed I loved to see what I would find. Sleeping kids are just precious. Sleeping kids who love each other are even better. The only time it was creepy was when I came in and Finley had his blanket wrapped around his head. Not sure what that was about...

This picture might fare better with an explanation, but there is none. This is just typical Finn.

"You drive, I shoot." The boys went deer hunting.

In August our church had a "Messy Night" to kick off the Awana season. And boy was it messy! I didn't know if the boys would get all into it but they did! They especially loved the foam machine!

Finn and his "weapons." This sounds bad...I know. But I don't know how better to describe these next pictures because, really....                (I do feel like I am well protected)

Josh took the boys hunting recently and they insisted on camo, then let me take their picture. They  pretended to be trees, and because they are in camo they blend in with the trees behind them, especially when they hold their arms like tree limbs. I mean, you have to really to squint to see them! ;)  I'd say Josh has his two very best friends in his boys.

"Let's wrestle!"  Yes, I hear this daily. Sometimes I stop them. Sometimes I veg out on the couch and let them go to town, only breaking in when I fear a broken arm or screams. They love to wrestle and they cover a lot of ground when they do so...these pics are not crisp because the boys are moving like crazy, but they make me laugh. I think Finn might've won this match.

Happy Birthday Daddy! When you wait to the last minute to get a cake, you end up with a Frankenstein cake. The boys were thrilled!

We recently took the boys bowling, and despite being floored at the price we had a great time!! I got a kick out of the way the girl spelled my name despite me repeating it slowly for her many times. When she moved on to Josh's name she made the comment that she put something up there but she didn't know if it was right! Seriously?! Thankfully for her Josh's name is simply Josh. Good grief. The boys had a good time...and we played two games. Keagan started to get it and ended the night using just his right hand to sling the ball down the lane vs "granny style." Finn would set his ball down and gently roll it down the lane. It took f.o.r.e.v.e.r for the ball to make it to the pins and we would actually encourage him to get the second ball rolling before the first even got to the end!!!!  We tried to help him, but as I stated in the beginning of this post, Finn insists on going against the grain. He was gonna do it his way.

I leave you with the cutest plumber's crack ever:
