Be Kind. Rewind.

Sooooooo, my blog skills kinda stink lately. Our family has been super busy lately and blogging has taken a bit of a backseat. But I really need to get to work since our summer fun is just beginning and I am going to have lots to share!
I know that we are more than half-way through June, but we had a lot of fun in May and I am going to rewind and jumble it all together so I can move forward. The month of May brought many walks in the park and around the neighborhood, play dates with friends, our first family hike (and Keagan did the whole thing on foot!), and even a visit from my Uncle Steve. It was a good month, that's for sure!

Annie came over to play!

Hopscotch basics:

Finn tested out what sidewalk chalk tasted like. He must have liked it because he continues to try and eat it.

A taste of what life is like with three babies (under three years old)...

It seemed OK that Oscar was riding in the wagon...at first...but then Annie flipped out. And our peaceful evening turned into just short of a fiasco. Partly because Annie flipped out and was whaling in the area of our neighborhood that echoes and partly because the dog (now out of the wagon) doesn't listen at all and nearly got hit by a van and then was nearly torn to shreds by the neighbor's big dog. So picture this, will you: woman with baby on front, two toddlers in wagon. One toddler all-out screaming, the other trying to get out of the wagon. Woman hollering at dog to "get back here" as a van approaches and is watching the people and not the dog. Dog is narrowly missed by van and then runs into neighbor's yard where big dog nearly mauls him. Meanwhile kid is still screaming and woman is still yelling. With baby strapped to her front. Elapsed time: 5 minutes. But my hollering sure did bring everyone out on their porches! Once we made it home, all in one piece, I was shaking, sweating, and we all went inside where it was safe.

Uncle Steve came for supper! And taught Keagan a secret handshake.

Lazy Saturday morning...daddy and his boys.

Hiking in LBL...we stopped to enjoy the view of the lake. And Keagan threw rocks into the water.

Yellow Tastes Yucky

Randomly, Stacey found a 5K in Murray that was a high school fundraiser for their sports program. Even better, the 5K was a color run! I had never participated in one before but have been registered for months to do one with a bunch of girls in Louisville next weekend so I was a little anxious to see, on a smaller scale, how this would go! Unfortunately Josh had to work the weekend, so the boys got to tag along...but they LOVED it and even made the front page of the local newspaper! We really had a good time and just took our time on the course, let the kids enjoy the color and took lots of pictures! The color was pretty awesome...unless you got a bunch of it in your mouth, like me!

Clean-up was quite interesting, as you may imagine...but it was so worth it!!

Ten Months, baby!

I think I blinked too long...I swear I JUST did his 9 month post. I mean, I know time is flying, but I really feel like the last month was so short!

Anyway.

Finn is 10 months old, today. This kid is a nut. He is jabbering a lot lately...says dadadadada quite often. It's sweet, especially when you ask him to say Dada and he repeats. He also shakes his head No. This isn't so sweet, especially when you are trying to feed him and he is essentially refusing the spoon. Then the food is spread from ear to ear while he rapidly shakes his head No. His teachers laugh because they say they've never seen a kid actually refuse with a shake of the head. Finley also can wave hello...and it is a full arm wave. Pretty cute!

Finn still only has the two bottom teeth. I've been saying "any day now" with regards to his getting his top four teeth, but nope. He still drools, gnaws, is fussy and pulls on his ears as if he is about to get teeth any day now but I guess this is just Finley's M.O. and we are eventually going to have to get out of denial and realize that he just is this way...and it isn't his ears or his teeth! I suppose I like to blame his behavior on something. But it is likely just his personality...

Speaking of personality...he is feisty. And when I say feisty, I mean feisty like a red-head! :) And we are pretty sure this is the direction his hair is headed. At the very least I think he will be strawberry blonde. Maybe I am wrong, but I will be tickled pink if I am right! Today's pictures don't do his locks justice, but everyone who holds him and gets an up-close view of his head asks us about his "reddish" hair. He does have the fair skin tone, freckles (already) and bright blue eyes so the strawberry blonde hair would be perfectly fitting!
