Graduation Day

Just so you know, I am blogging from my balcony overlooking the beach in Destin, Florida.  The sound of the waves crashing and the smell of the ocean are incredibly soothing.  Ok, now that I have gotten that out of the way, I can continue with my post.  (don't be jealous.  oh, who am I kidding, it is fantastic.)

So, Friday was Keagan's last day at his present daycare.  We didn't intend on sending Keagan to daycare when we found out we were pregnant.  In fact, Keagan was supposed to stay with a lady in her home until he turned one.  But this fell through right after we brought Keagan home.  It turned out to be a wonderful thing, though!  Keagan has learned so much from being in daycare and is such an easy-going little guy, and he loves to play with other kids.  His social skills are top notch (even if he still isn't walking!) and he has a hilarious little personality.  So, why would I take him out of this daycare if it has been so great?  Well, he is moving to a new school, one which isn't so much daycare as it is "pre" preschool.  Does that make sense?  It is an enrichment-type school where there is more learning, less baby-sitting.  Right now Keagan is a sponge and is just itching to learn all that he can.  It is really quite amazing to watch him learn.  I know he would do well at his current daycare, but he will excel at this new one (after all, he is my and Josh's child! ha!!!!).  But no, really, we think this is a wonderful step in the learning direction and cannot wait to see all that Keagan can soak up.  He starts his new school when we get home from vacation.

On Friday, I brought my camera and took a few pictures.  They aren't the best b/c Keagan spotted me immediately and immediately thought we should be going home!  So I couldn't get any good candid pics of him playing.  But I got a few of him in his old classroom and one of him with his old teacher when he was in the baby room...he love love LOVES Ms. Brandy!  And despite the fact that we were on our way out the door yesterday, he still leaned over towards Ms. Brandy to be held.  And she even got some kisses blown at her.  What a flirt!

The Adventures of Space Bear

Please meet our dear friend, Space Bear.

Others like to refer to him as Scuba Bear, which is probably more appropriate given he wears scuba gear and is a bath toy. But I refer to him as Space Bear and this has stuck. Space Bear doesn't reside in the bathtub, or anywhere near his fleet of other bath toys.  You see, Space Bear is an elitist, and he dwells in one of two locations:  A beige Coach purse with a few other elitist neighbors, or a Vera Bradley diaper bag with zebra decor and some cushiony wipes and diapers as furniture.

Space Bear has saved many a dinner outing from turning disastrous.  He can work his magic anywhere, anytime, and make a small child named Keagan happy.  He bounces out behind glasses of water and bottles of beer.  He eats crackers and makes a silly mess.  He tickles the cheeks and neck of the child named Keagan, bringing squeals of delight and many, many giggles.  If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Space Bear in action, I feel sorry for you.  This is something not to be missed.  It is quite amazing.  Sometimes, on rare occasions, Space Bear wears out his welcome and food is the only thing that makes the child happy....but then Space Bear can swoop down from the sky for one final attempt and create more giggles.  Without fail.  (He just has to work harder the longer the wait)

Some dear friends of ours suggested we keep a log of the adventures of Space Bear, as he gets to go everywhere.  We thought this a good idea, and so did Space Bear.  So here are some of the places he has been the last several weeks:

He has been at the hospital, visiting his "Aunt" Stacey before she had her baby...

He has been to Doe's Eat Place, where he had to work exceptionally hard that night.  But was rewarded with a beer an T-bone.  It was worth it.

Space Bear even got in a little lake action at Buzzard Rock with good friends, a great band, and the best views.
Most of Space Bear's outings are not documented, but he was recently seen at a local Mexican Restaurant, Chick-Fil-A, and the mall.  Stay tuned.  You never know where Space Bear will turn up next.

Boy Toys

Back at Christmastime, our friends Stacey and Jarrett gave Keagan this awesome backhoe toy. Keagan has shown interest in it since it became his, but he hasn't really been able to use it until now. And it is pretty hilarious to watch because he knows exactly what to do with it! He still hasn't got the hang of pushing it with his feet, but that is only a matter of time.
Then...

Now.

On a different, yet related, note: Keagan had his first boat ride the other day. Once he got over the confinement of the life vest, he was smooth sailin'. Literally. He truly enjoyed himself.
"Dad!  I'm ready to go fishin'!"
