One Sick Puppy

Keagan, like most kids this time of year, has been sick. He has been running a low grade fever, had a snotty nose, and has been coughing. A lot of coughing. And when Keagan coughs, he vomits. Today he vomited twice after his nap (I almost vomited once helping to clean it up) and then we went to Hickman to pick up a freezer from Josh's grandmothers house, and he vomited 5+ times in the car. In fact, we had to stop at Wal-Mart on the way so I could get him a complete change of clothes.  Poor kid.  But unless he's coughing, and/or vomiting, you'd never know he felt bad.  See?

Keagan's newest face is his Pirate's Face...in full-force here. With an added bonus of a half-inch of snot on his upper lip. He makes the sound effects, too. Rrrrrrrr, matey! This just cracks us up!!  He learned this from Bubble Guppies. At least he's learning something. 

Sweet Sixteen

Happy Sweet 16!  Weeks, that is.  I have made it another month since the last belly pics, so I guess it is time for some more.  This weekend our family went up to Lexington for our 3rd annual Janine&Lindsy Birthday Celebration...so belly pics were taken there.  BONUS:  I got to take 16 week pics with my best friend, who is also 16 weeks along! Double Bonus:  And on Sunday we met some more friends for lunch, and Abby is ALSO 16 weeks pregnant!  Yup, we are all due within a couple days of each other!  Isn't that crazy?  (seriously, if you don't want to end up like us, don't drink the water.  It's in the water, I promise.  It seems like everyone I know is pregnant.)

Now, back to the weekend festivities. Both Lindsy and I have February birthdays and for the last three years since Josh and I moved to Benton, we have gotten together to celebrate.  It isn't as much about turning another year older as it is about celebrating with our good friends, eating until we bust, and laughing so hard we get a side stitch.  Or snort.  Or both.  And the best part of it is all four of us (husbands and wives) have so much fun together that there is never a lull in the laughter or conversation.  When we get together it is almost like we just saw each other, except now we are seeing time pass in the growth of our children.  We may get together each February to celebrate another year older, but honestly I don't feel like any of us has aged!  Fun fact about our birthday celebrations:  this year we are both expecting, last year Lindsy was pregnant, and the year before that I was pregnant!  We decided that no one can be pregnant next year!  And we will all celebrate that with a glass of wine! 

Over the weekend, Keagan made great friends with Kennedy.  She was so incredibly good to him and treated him like a buddy versus a pesky little brother...and I think he did pretty good by not taking her toys but playing with her.  They were insanely sweet together and I am sad that I didn't get more pics of the two of them.  On Sunday morning when Keagan woke up, I asked him if he had fun playing with Kennedy the day before, his response was a full body head nod and high-pitched "Mmhmm!" (he doesn't say "yes" quite yet!)  She has grown up so much and when she saw Keagan for the first time, told Lindsy that "Keagan has gotten so big!"  How funny!  And she was also a great babysitter, letting me know if Keagan was getting into things that he shouldn't be (always) and when he spilled his milk, etc.  Josh and I agreed that it would be nice to have her around here every once in a while as another set of eyes! :) 

These next few pics just warm my heart.  Keagan wanted "Up Up" to sit with Kennedy!  And she was more than happy to have him sit beside her. 

We had a fantastic weekend.  It is so hard for me to believe how rapidly our families are growing!  It seems like just yesterday Lindsy and I were two unmarried gals in college doing the college thing!  (I will spare you the details...but I know it seems like just yesterday to her because we talk about it like it was!)

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I love Valentine's Day. Heck, I love holidays. They break up the monotony a little and I love a little change from the norm. The funny thing about this particular day of looooove is that we aren't terribly romantic. I mean, we love each other a lot! But, usually I end up disappointed because I put a lot of stock into this holiday only to have Josh think I don't care much about it. This year, however, we were equal in our "gift-giving" ... in fact we gave each other identical cards! And we got a great laugh out of this!!! Josh got me some Dove chocolates (which I don't need, but am more than happy to get!) and I made him some Sprinkles red-velvet cupcakes (which actually tasted like poo and we threw them all out...but only after I licked the icing off of two of them first!).

A couple days ago I heard Keagan playing in his room and went to check on him to find him playing at his tool bench that his Poppy and Gama got him for Christmas. He was very serious with what he was doing, and it was so cute I had to take some pics of him. But he refused to give me a smile, he was too busy. He is turning into such a little man. The best part is that he had his manly-man Carhartt overalls on...real men wear Carhartts and have tools.   

Now for the best part of our day today. We had a doctor's appointment today and had the chance to have a sneak peek at what Baby #2's gender is! Then, because it was Valentine's Day and because we both had the day off, we went to lunch, shopped a little, and then had some frozen yogurt. We had a wonderful, relaxing day and then enjoyed a steak dinner at home with Keagan. The End.

Just kidding. That was my attempt at suspense, but I am not very good at it. And most of y'all know the sex of the baby already because we texted it and facebooked it and basically splattered it all over! BUT, in case you don't know...It's A

BOY!!!

And we really couldn't be more thrilled! We were both hopeful that it would be another little boy, wanting Keagan to have a playmate, and wanting to re-use some of the awesome stuff and clothes we already have. We definitely would have been thrilled with a baby girl, too, but we know what to do with a boy already! :)  And what I already know, I LOVE!!  So, here are a few ultrasound pictures from today:

The best part of the ultrasound, other than seeing our baby (duh!), was watching my bladder fill right before our eyes. I had just consumed almost an entire Mt. Dew in an attempt to get baby moving (it worked like a charm!) and so I had a very full bladder. When the ultrasound gal put the wand on my belly, my bladder was so so huge, and she scanned over it and we could actually see stuff going into it. She said, "Look, You're peeing!" We all got a great laugh out of it and I think I impressed the ultrasound gal (who we've become "close" to throughout all our experiences with this office). Ah, fun times! You shoulda been there. 

From the baby stand point, HE looks great, was moving good, heart beat was strong, and we could see his belly and bladder (evidence of practicing swallowing and urinating). I have gained a bit of extra weight (5lbs..oops!) and the nurse, who was ultra-dry, said that it was okay this time but I probably shouldn't gain so much every appointment. Ha! Well, whatever. It was a good appointment and we go back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound to measure growth and development!

And, no, we don't have any names yet. :)
