Winter 2025-2026 Basketball Season

This past winter, the girls participated in little league basketball through their elementary school and and then after that wrapped up were invited to play further on separate "feeder" program leagues. For their little league team, I was fortunate to assistant coach (though I am learning along with my girls) on Maclyn and Ivy's team which was a 2nd/3rd grade team. It was a lot of fun and a lot of frustration all at the same time, but I enjoyed being a part of the girls' basketball journeys for a little bit. After that ended, Mac went to a 3rd grade team and Ivy went to a 2nd grade team. Mac's team did have some games but was more about foundational skills building. And Ivy's team was more competitive (though I don't think they won a single game!). They both enjoyed an indoor sport over winter and are both already signed up for basketball for this upcoming winter.

The first set of pictures are from the little league team I helped coach. The girls were on the same team with this session. Maclyn was #28 and Ivy #31. On their individual grade teams, Maclyn was #8 and Ivy was #7.

best friends on opposing teams - they played each other and then hugged it out afterwards

I was very proud of Mac - she really came out and worked super hard!

Ivy is there in the scuffle on the ground - she didn't mind playing a little aggressive

her best friend Makenzie on the opposing team (they were split into a North and South group - in preparation for middle school someday)

Maclyn's and Ivy's teams played each other...while it was expected that the older girls win, they didn't kill our younger girls!

sisters paired against each other

a pow-wow with all the girls after - since they will all be together again eventually in middle and high school

sisters!!

Delcie and Ivy during a game break

check out the score - our poor girls were obviously out of their league...but that didn't keep them fighting! Ivy did end up fouling out during one of these tournament games - and then cried because she couldn't play anymore (it was at the end of the game at least). I had to tell her that we have to space out the fouls but I love the aggression!

check out our opponent - our girls just couldn't hang against these bigger and more skilled girls!

Mac down and ready to play against a Paducah team

this is funny - this girl is supposed to be a 2nd grader. Ivy realized she can be faster!
